Alligators and Birthdays

Today we wanted to go somewhere with the kids so we decided to go into Destin for lunch. We went to a place called FudPucker's that is kid-friendly and also has a place to see alligators.

Both Joshua and Clara really enjoyed feeding the alligators. You put their food on fishing rods and lowered it into the water. Joshua probably could have done that all day.

There was a lot of flooding at this place in the basement, which is where the alligators are. So most of the normal exhibits were closed. Which was fine because it doesn't cost money, but they did free pictures with gators today to make up for the lack of exhibits. So the lady brought the alligator out. The kids were interested.

But definitely skeptical. Especially Clara. She really wasn't sure about this petting the alligator thing.

After lunch, we went to a nature area near my mom's house. It has a boardwalk near a creek. The kids had a really good time walking along the boardwalk and throwing leaves and sticks into the water. The older two especially ran as fast as they could despite the fact it was a little slick from the rain.

My mom's birthday celebration is tomorrow, but her actual birthday is today. So I made her dinner and we all ate a nice meal together.
