Today we went to Deanna Rose to enjoy their "Pumpkin Hollow" pumpkin patch courtesy of our realtor Brad Papa who not only is super competent and great professionally, but he puts on fun customer-appreciation events like this too. Which is nice considering Pumpkin Hollow would normally cost us $50 in admission fees so we jumped at the chance to go for free. We started the morning with donuts from Brad, which was probably Hannah's favorite part of the day.
Clara, as normal, was full after two bites of donut so Joshua heroically stepped in to eat hers as well as his. You know it's going to be a good day when it starts off with double-fisting donuts. We also saw Benjamin since the Fouts also used Brad to buy their house. Sadly the donuts were not Benjamin-friendly, but he seemed completely satisfied with his cheerios.
We went over to the horse area and took a hayride over to "Pumpkin Hollow". It's sort of like an old-fashioned pumpkin patch experience.
We started off on the hay-bale slide. Hannah wasn't sure about it so went down with Jason, but the other two loved it right away, especially Joshua. Clara really liked it, but felt less confident in climbing up to the top to get on the slide.
There were lots of fun things to do besides the slide. Some of the things we did were climbing on a big hay bale, digging in the corn, a maze, playing with wooden farm animals, and a mini-golf putting green. Jason also gave stilts a whirl. He was challenged by the mud, but I think he has real potential for a secondary career as an Uncle Sam or something similar.
Soon we really needed to get going. Not only was it getting close to lunch time, but Jason really wanted to catch the second half of the K-State game (which the Wildcats won, so a good day got even better). So we picked out our pumpkins and soon were on our way.
The kids were worn out on the way home. I think we'll probably try to get out to Deanna Rose one more time this year since we didn't get to feed the animals this time, but this is probably it for pumpkin-centric activities, and we sure did have fun.
