Christmas Dogs and Christmas Milk

Our neighbors, the Griffins, have some of those light-up deer in their front yard. The kids really like them, but they apparently didn't quite notice the antlers on one, so one of the kids (I can't remember which one) declared them to be "Christmas dogs" and the other two trusted that that was correct. So now every time we see them, the kids will yell something like "I see Christmas dogs!" Our neighbor had told me that if the kids ever wanted to touch them, they could, so I let the kids gently pet the "dogs", which they really enjoyed.

And speaking of things that don't quite have the right name, after we introduced eggnog as "some special milk for Christmas," they decided that meant it was "Christmas milk".  So every time we have eggnog, we call it Christmas milk.  Both of these cute things will likely be gone by next year, replaced with the correct and boring terms, so we are embracing them for this year while we still can.
