Family Date Day with Trucks

Today I was supposed to have a date day with Joshua and I planned to bring him to see trucks in the park. But when I asked him to get ready, he really didn't want to go. And Clara really did. She kept saying, "I want to see trucks". And then I thought I would take Clara, but, of course, as soon as I told her to get ready, Joshua decided his life would be ruined if he didn't go. In the end, we decided to just go as a family and Joshua didn't get an individual date. That's the price you pay for refusing to go I guess. We had a fun time.
It's Bradford Pear season now (well, it seems like it actually lasts only a week, so it's a short "season"), and the road leading to the trucks was beautifully lined with them.

Joshua was most excited about the construction equipment. He did seem a little disappointed when I told him he couldn't actually drive it, but he was overall excited to see it and climb in it. He was still a little timid to get in most things though. I think he was worried the horns would go off while he was sitting there and be scary.

Clara had no such fear though and had a ton of fun climbing and sitting in things and exploring them.

Here she stands tall (figuratively) and assesses the situation to see which truck she should investigate next.

Hannah was in the stroller most of the time, which she wasn't really that thrilled about. She kept saying, "Get Out". Finally I let her out to climb on a flat bed truck and she was super excited to get out of her seat and play with the big kids.

After a fun time looking at trucks, we finished up with a nice lunch at Chili's, which was part of my original plan. A lot of me hates bringing Joshua to Chili's because his favorite thing to get is Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, which I can get the same thing at the grocery store for substantially less. But he really does like it and we don't very often have it at home so it's a special, though overpriced, treat for him.
